LNG 321-22 - Sophomore English - 2023-24 (Period 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th)

Welcome to Sophomore English! This page will give you a day by day preview/review of what we do each day in class.  This is where you will see your calendar, you can find what you missed if you were absent, or you can remind yourself of what is coming.  

This year the focus is on literature from all over the world, including short stories, poetry, informational texts, plays, and novels.  You will be required to do some reading on your own, and some will be done in class.  Your textbook is a consumable book this year, so that means you can WRITE IN IT!  That will make for much more productive time in class, since you will be able to take notes in the book itself instead of on separate handouts.  

We will also do an intensive vocabulary study all year.  The more words you know, the easier reading gets.  That makes sense, right?  

And last, writing is a big focus in sophomore english classes.  You must learn to write and punctuate so that your messages are clear, your audience understands you, and so you are better prepared for upper level high school writing, college/career writing, and beyond.
