Welcome to AP Literature! I hope you are ready to explore the creative and artistic world of novels, poetry, short stories, and plays. This year we will read some great things and we will TALK about how the artists who created these works pieced them together, intentionally, thoughtfully, creatively, and technically, and how they pass the test of lasting literature. I hope you enjoy this class because I really enjoy talking to students about literary works of art. This class is more creative than technical, so I will ask you to think outside the box as we learn to use critical lenses, write about literature, and interpret theme.
AP Literature does include the senior project, but I think most students agree, it is not that difficult, and actually can be a grade booster. Pick something you love, and it will be very easy to complete, and you may even enjoy it!
The end of the course does include an AP exam, so you will need to decide early if you want to take that exam, or not. We will talk about all of this in the first weeks of the class. I am excited to meet you as we read some fun, interesting, challenging, and diverse texts.
