Moore APWHIM 6th-6th Period Assignments

This assessment will be in Short-Answer-Question (SAQ) Format. You'll have 40 minutes in which to answer three SAQs. Content for the questions will come from AMSCO Unit 3(Land-Based Empires). B Rotation students will take the assessment on Wed, Nov 18. A Rotation takes it on Thurs, Nov 19.

ALL ANSWERS MUST BE IN YOUR OWN HAND-WRITING (not typed). In your AMSCO book, read topics 3.1 and 3.2 on Land-based Empires. As you read, write your answers to the Guided Reading packet. (You should have gotten a hard copy of these sheets after the test on Oct 27th / 28th.)

Study Power Point and PDF resources found in Review Materials of Google Classroom. Also study Mrs. Clark's bullet point review which you received in class on Wednesday or Thursday.

Read AMSCO Unit 2 topics 2.4 - 2.6 and complete the following questions. Submit IN CLASS on Thursday Oct 15 (for B Rotation) or Friday Oct 16 (for A students).

Attached is a digital copy of the Reading Check questions for the first part of Unit 2 ("Networks of Exchange" in your AMSCO book). You probably picked up a hard copy of these questions in class last week. Submit IN CLASS on Thurs Oct 1 (for B Rotation) or Fri Oct 2 (for A).

You received hard copies of the written reflection and the Document Key Grid in class this week. Both are due at the beginning of class on Monday (for A) and Tuesday (for B). Read and follow the directions carefully. Also attached is the scoring guide for the Written Reflection. READ IT CAREFULLY. Note: This will be your first written assignment grade and will impact your course average. If you have struggled on assessments, this is a grade that can help you. Do your best work! You will turn in hard copies of these assignments IN CLASS.

Here are the Guided Questions for the remaining topics in your AMSCO book for Unit 1. These questions cover topics 1.4 (Americas), 1.5 (Africa) and 1.6 (Europe). You'll turn in a hard copy of the answers in YOUR HANDWRITING. Due for A Rotation on Thursday, September 10 and for B Rotation on Friday, September 11.

This assignment is due by 3pm. From myap.collegeboard.org, go to your APWH Classroom, take the"Unit 1 Progress Check: MCQ", then submit the results through myap.collegeboard.org. Note: For this assignment, you will not submit anything through Google Classroom. (In GC this is recorded as an ungraded assignment. However, in Infinite Campus, you will receive a daily grade for effort and completion based on what you submit through myap.collegeboard.org.) These questions are VERY challenging. Don't be intimidated by the rigor. Remember, for this first look at AP-style multiple choice history questions, you are being evaluated more on effort and completion than accuracy. Metaphor alert: This is a "get-your-feet-wet" assignment. Jump in and splash around some.

Students who scored 75 or lower on last week's quiz will re-take IN CLASS on Wed (for A Rotation) or Thurs (for B). If you scored higher than 75 you also CAN DO the re-take, but be aware that the re-take grade will count -- even if the score is lower than your original grade.

This is your "at home" assignment for the week of August 24. It will help you prepare for your quiz on Thurs (A Rotation) and Friday (B Rotation). Note: For this assignment, you will not submit anything through Google Classroom. (In GC this is recorded as an ungraded assignment.) However, you will submit this in class, and you'll receive a daily grade in Infinite Campus for effort and completion.

Directions:
1. Go to (It will take 5 minutes or so for the page to load. Be patient.)
Note: This is a 50 page pdf file, but you're only reading 10 pages from it.
2. Using the pdf file document numbers at the top of the screen, read pp. 17-27. Don't confuse the pdf page numbers at the top of the screen with the printed page numbers at the bottom corners (which say pp. 200-210). The section titles you're reading are Islamic Civilizations (Chap 6.3) and The Culture of Islam (Chap 6.4).
3. On notebook paper IN YOUR HANDWRITING, answer #1 (Explain the significance vocabulary) and #2 (Main Ideas -- Explain how Muslim . . . ) found on the Section 4 Review on Doc page 24.

Due Dates: Turn in this assignment in class on the day of your quiz (A Rotation = Thursday; B students = Friday).

This ungraded question is your reminder about this week's test. For this question, you need not submit anything through Google Classroom. The in-class quiz this Thurs/Fri will cover the Neolithic Revolution, major religions and philosophies, as well as AMSCO topics 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. Study your in-class notes on the Neolithic Revolution, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam -- plus your assigned readings in the AMSCO book. We will discuss the quiz format in class on Tuesday (for A Rotation) and Wednesday (for B Rotation).

For B Rotation, this assignment is due next Monday, August 24. For A Rotation, it's due Tuesday, August 25. ANSWERS MUST BE IN YOUR HANDWRITING (not typed). You'll turn in the hard copy of these questions in class. In your AMSCO book, read pp. 1-32 (which cover 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 of Unit One). As you read, pause from time to time to record the answers. Note: you're reading three sections from Unit 1 -- Developments in East Asia, in Dar al-Islam, and in South / SE Asia . You'll answer a combined total of 46 questions at home this week, so pace yourself -- one section per day.

B Rotation Students: Here are the resources to prepare for Friday's Open Note Quiz. Print out the Handout "Unit 0 -- World History Before 1200: Overview." (Note You might have to open the file in a separate window in order to print all 4 pages.) Use the handout to guide you through Steve Heimler's 15-minute video. ANSWERS MUST BE IN YOUR OWN HAND-WRITING. You'll have to watch the video several times (and probably stop it frequently, as well). You can use this handout on Friday while you take your Open Note Quiz over the Heimler video. The handout itself will be due for B Rotation on Thursday, August 13
