Moore APUSH 1st Period-1st Period Assignments

This assessment will be in Short-Answer-Question (SAQ) Format. You'll have 40 minutes in which to answer three SAQs. Content for the questions will come from AMSCO Chapters 11( Culture, Reform, Society) and 12 (Territorial Expansion / Manifest Destiny). B Rotation students will take the assessment on Wed, Nov 18. A Rotation takes it on Thurs, Nov 19.

Read Chapter 11 in your AMSCO book (Society, Culture, and Reform) and complete the Guided Reading Packet. Remember ALL ANSWERS MUST BE IN YOUR HAND-WRITING (not typed). You may have picked up a hard copy of these sheets after the test on Oct 27th / 28th.

This is an open-note quiz over last week's Crash Course videos (19th Century Reforms and Women in the 19th Century) and this week's lesson on presidential elections. You can find all materials in GC under the category "Video Lessons for At-Home" -- the lessons from last Thursday and Friday and Monday. All you need to bring to class are the three handouts (one from each day's lesson). They should be completed and in your own handwriting.

The best thing you can do to prep for this test is to listen carefully to Mr. Dudley's video review session (found in Google Classroom under the Assessments category). Listen to it and take notes and study, study, study.

This assignment is due on Thursday Oct 22 for A Rotation and Friday Oct 23 for B students. Note -- this packet is over Chapter 10 (Age of Jackson). We're skipping over Chapters 8 and 9 for now.

Read Chapter 7 in your AMSCO book (Age of Jefferson) and complete the Guided Reading Packet. Due for B Rotation on Tuesday Oct 13 and on Wednesday Oct 14 for A students.

Read AMSCO Chapter 6: The Constitution and the New Republic and complete the attached guided note packet. Submit IN CLASS on Thursday, Oct 1, for B Rotation or Friday, Oct 2, for A students.

In class Chapter Assessment over the American Revolution (AMSCO Chapter 5 -- you have a Guided Note Packet to study) and class notes on the 9-11/War on Terror (found in Google Classroom).

You received hard copies of the written reflection and the Document Key Grid in class this week. Both are due at the beginning of class on Monday (for A) and Tuesday (for B). Read and follow the directions carefully. Also attached is the scoring guide for the Written Reflection. READ IT CAREFULLY. Note: This will be your first written assignment grade and will impact your course average. If you have struggled on assessments, this is a grade that can help you. Do your best work! You will turn in hard copies of these assignments IN CLASS.

Here's your next Guided Reading assignment. For A Rotation, you will submit a completed hard copy in YOUR HANDWRITING on Thursday, September 10. For B students, you'll submit in class on Friday, September 11.

Today you will practice writing an APUSH Short Answer Question (SAQ).

Directions:

1) Watch the attached 10-minute video (SAQ-2020-09-04), which teaches the A-C-E method of answering an SAQ and gives you an example demonstration.

2) To see the SAQ prompt, open the attached image (SAQ Prompt-Friday-Sep-4).

3) Write and submit your answer through Google Classroom. If you prefer to hand-write your response, first print the attached SAQ blank Answer Form, write your answer on the form, take a picture and submit through Google Classroom. You can also type your answer as a Google Doc and submit.

**Your entire answer should be 9 to 12 complete sentences (3 to 4 sentences for each part -- a, b, and c). More than 15 sentences is way too much.

**Your response is DUE BY 3pm TODAY (Friday, Sep 4). Ganbatte / Try Hard / Good Luck / Go Pack!

You have three at-home days to complete the handout (7 pages), so pace yourself and shoot for completing 2 pages or so each at-home day.

This is your "at home" assignment for the week of August 24 and will help you prepare for the mid-Nine Weeks Test on Thurs (A Rotation) and Friday (B Rotation). Last week, your reading assignment was Chapters 1 and 2 in the text (or the AMSCO equivalent). This week at home, you need to read text Chapters 3 & 4 (in AMSCO through Chap 3). As you read, continue working on your "Euro Contact / Early Colonial" guided notes grid (which is due next week on the day of the assessment).

This 4-page Guided-Note handout will be due the day you're assessed over US History to 1754 (A Rotation=Aug 17; B Rotation=Aug 18). Print out these pages because your ANSWERS MUST BE HANDWRITTEN (not typed). As you read in your text (Chap 1-4) or in your AMSCO Book (Chap 1-3), make notes on the handout. We'll work on this in class next week, as well. Focus on basic information -- two or three phrases per box. If you can't find an item, skip it, and save it for class. Today and Friday, focus on the first major category: European Nations and the Western Hemisphere (the first two tables on the handout -- Spain, France ... Explorations for Asian Trade Routes ... Roanoke). Let me know if you have any questions / concerns.
