2023-24 School Year
The PACK
We are all fortunate to be part of Greenbrier High School, whether as students, faculty, or staff.
Every day of the 2023-24 school year provides us the opportunity to flourish with the support of our very own dynamic, enthusiastic, and inclusive PACK!
Our CLASS
In order to grow as intuitive readers, compelling writers, and critical thinkers, we will delve into intriguing literature and myriad opportunities for expression of ideas.
Our academic growth relies heavily on the commitment of everyone. Success depends of our being responsible, respectful, and resourceful.
COMMUNICATION
I will post all communications on our class Google Classroom. The codes for signing up for your specific class are located to the left. Be sure to sign up for the appropriate period. You should check the GC Calendar daily. Classwork, homework, assignment requirements, and resources necessary for your success will be linked there for ease of access. In other words, if in doubt, check Google Classroom!
Exchange phone numbers with at least two people in class. If you should miss class or are seeking clarification, having classmates to call is a responsible plan. Missing class inevitably creates gaps in your class connection and understanding of the material. The next best thing to being there is having responsible classmates to talk with about material/assignments that you missed. Assume this responsibility!
ORGANIZATION
YOU MUST USE A PLANNER!!!
Your high school experience demands that you keep up with requirements for seven courses and extra-curricular activities. Google Classroom is a helpful tool. You are fortunate that your teachers maintain this platform for your use; however, you must record all of YOUR upcoming events and deadlines in ONE place--your planner. I suggest a planner that includes a month-at-a-glance section as well as daily pages.
If you find that you need help with developing the discipline of maintaining a planner, I will be happy to initial your planner following class (after you record your assignment) so your parents can check it daily to ensure that your assignments are completed on time. I expect, however, that you, as a high school student, will manage your responsibilities without your parents' supervision. Maturity. :)
YOUR MUST MAINTAIN A NOTEBOOK!!!
Keeping your 3-ring binder organized is essential to your success in this course. Bring your notebook to class each day and insert handouts and assignments in the appropriate sections. Losing materials and assignments will not be an issue if you adhere to this simple organizational strategy.
The YEAR
The 2022-23 school year will be epic. I look forward to our time together! :)
