  • Being punctual, present and prepared
  • Exhibiting critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrating effective communication
  • Exhibiting professional image and appropriate behavior
  • Demonstrating creativity and work readiness traits
  • Using equipment properly
  • Being responsible for cleaning assigned area and personal space

Classroom and laboratory policy:

  1. Students are expected to respect the rights of others to learn and create an environment that is conducive to learning.  Respect for the instructor and other students will be given at ALL times. Any student who chooses to break classroom procedures will receive the appropriate consequences.  These include but are not limited to: lunch detention, parent contact, and discipline referral.
  2. Students are required to be in their assigned seats and prepared to begin class at the tardy bell.  Any student failing to follow this procedure will be considered tardy.  Likewise, students are to remain in their assigned location until dismissed by the instructor.  Tardies are a disruption to the learning environment and will be handled in accordance with disciplinary guidelines.
  3. Students will also sanitize their desks at the beginning and end of each class period.  Sanitizing supplies will be provided for this purpose.
  4. No use of profanity, sleeping, defacing of school/others property, placement of trash on the floor or in the cabinets, or doing work for other teachers during class will be tolerated.  Purses and all student bags are to remain on the floor for the entire class.
  5. Be honest!  Cheating, copying, “checking” or “loaning” your work will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate discipline referral for all participants, parent notification, and any other action deemed necessary by the instructor.  This includes “Learning from Home”.  More information is available under “Honor Code” in the Student Code of Conduct.
  6. Lab Safety:  Follow all safety procedures.  Procedures will be reviewed prior to each activity and posted in laboratory environments.  You will be responsible and have to pay for any items you break.  Report any breakage or damage of equipment immediately to the instructor.  Never conduct unauthorized experiments.
  7. Work only with your assigned lab partner/group.  Visiting and walking around will not be permitted and will be considered a class disruption under disciplinary guidelines.  Social distancing guidelines must be followed as appropriate.
  8. Student cell phones and other electronic devices are to be put away.  Students are to have phones and other electronic devices at the work area ONLY when permitted by the instructor for special assignments.  Students violating classroom and BYOT guidelines will be subject to discipline referral.
  9. Students will be required to wear a face mask in the lab setting and when social distancing is not possible in the classroom.

Absences and make-up work:

  1. Attendance is critical to academic success.
  2. Work assigned before an absence is due the day of return.  In the event of a planned absence (field trips, athletics, etc.), your missed work should be obtained in advance and your assigned work is due at the same time as everyone else.  Turn in your assignments before you leave for a planned absence.
  3. Following an unplanned absence, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain the work missed and to turn in all assignments missed within five (5) school days of the absence.  DO NOT interrupt class instruction time for this information.
  4. Whenever a student is absent, a “M” is automatically recorded in the grade book for the missed assignments, until the work is made-up.  Make-up assignments and missed assessments must be completed within five (5) school days of the absence.  It is the student’s responsibility to schedule the make-ups with the instructor.

Required Materials:

    1. Binder (1 1/2 to 2 inch) for your notes, handouts, loose leaf paper, etc.
    2. Dividers

20% of final grade - Comprehensive Final Exam

  • Parents and students are encouraged to access student grades using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
  • Home learning is an integral factor in fostering the academic achievement of the student.  Students will be often be given rigorous assignments on learning from home days and are expected to complete assignments.  Keeping up with LFH assignments is the student’s responsibility.  Assignments will be either written or non-written (reading, studying, researching, etc.).  Assignments and lab reports are due at the time the bell rings for class to begin.
  • Quizzes/Tests are to be made-up by appointment within 2 school days, but no later than 5 school days from the absence.  If a student is absent the day of a quiz/test, they will be required to take the test/quiz upon return.  Prior approval absences should complete assignments/quizzes/tests either before or on the 1st day of return (teacher discretion).  Students are responsible to monitor the instructor website for assessment dates.
  • All missing work will be assigned an “M” in the gradebook until the assignment is made-up.  An “M” is calculated as a zero in the gradebook.
  • No late/missing work will be accepted once each final unit assessment is taken.
  • The lowest daily grade and quiz grade will be dropped per 9 weeks.

Test Reassessments:

Students may request to have a summative reassessment per unit.  Reassessment is up to teacher discretion.  The student must complete a retest request form.  All required unit work and additional reassessment review material must be complete before a reassessment will be considered.
