Course Name: Senior British Literature/Composition (LNG 341-42)
Course Description: This course offers opportunities to improve reading, writing, speaking/listening, and critical thinking skills through the study of literary selections from British/English writers organized chronologically or thematically. It emphasizes developing control in expository writing and moving toward precision in personal narrative, descriptive, and persuasive writing. It refines research skills, and it integrates grammar, mechanics, and usage into the writing process. The Senior Project is a required element of the course and includes a research paper, a portfolio, a product, and an oral presentation.
Senior English emphasizes independent reading and writing assignments. The success depends in large part on the active participation of each class member in class discussion. Obviously, if you are not prepared, you will not add a great deal to the discussion. All students are expected to read assignments before class and come to class prepared to give 100 percent.
Course Materials:
- One 3-ring binder with pockets (may be shared with another class)
- Loose-leaf paper
- Pens & pencils
